FAQs for Farm Camp

What area of Hendersonville is Hendo Care Farm (HCF) located in?

HCF is located specifically in the township of Fruitland. Address will be shared after payment is received. If you search for Justus Orchards on Google Map, we are very close by (within a half of a mile).

What if I need to cancel or it’s bad weather?

This farm camp will be held in rain or shine. We will make indoor accommodations in our barns when there is rain. Cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. There will be no make-up classes in the event of a participant’s absence. However, we can reschedule, cancel, and/or refund due to any unsafe weather-related issues. HCF will try their best to contact you in advance if they need to cancel due to unsafe weather.

What should my child wear and bring?

We recommend wearing/bringing appropriate layers incase the weather changes. It is also important to wear close-toed shoes due to uneven ground and to prevent injury if an animal accidentally steps on toes. We also recommend your child brings a backpack with everything they need in it so they can carry it around while in different areas of the farm. Inside the backpack we recommend putting in a water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, rain jacket, snacks and lunch. We will have a cooler to put lunches in if they need to stay cool and fresh water to refill water bottles. On Creek Day, please bring a towel and water shoes. We will let the kids put their feet in the creek.

Are there any “Farm Rules” that we should know in advance?

Yes, for the safety and security of our farm and our animals, we must enforce the following rules on the farm:

  1. No smoking, vaping, tobacco products, drugs or CBD.

  2. No outside pets allowed. Leaving them in the car is prohibited in high temperatures.

  3. No spectators allowed without registration.

  4. No outside treats for the animals.

  5. No going to other areas of the farm without permission.

  6. Children cannot be left unattended.

  7. No personal belongings inside the pastures (phones and water bottles are an exception)

  8. No littering.

  9. Everyone is required to sign a Liability Waiver before beginning.

Is your farm a safe place and all-inclusive to all people?

Together we celebrate diversity and strive to create a safe space that is more inclusive and less oppressive to all of people’s many identities including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, family structure, ability, and more

Do you provide sliding scales for youth and college students?

Yes, our nonprofit partner Angel K Love Project strives to keep our program fees as low as possible for youth and college students. If the cost is stopping you from registering your child, please email the Angel K Love Project at angelkloveproject@gmail.com and let them know what your financial needs are and they will get back to you with options available.

If you would like to sponsor a child, college student or donate, please feel free to do so at angelkloveproject.org. Proceeds help support youth in need of financial support to participate in all the wellness opportunities at Hendo Care Farm and it supports our animals too!
