FAQs for Farm Camps
What area of Hendersonville is Hendo Care Farm (HCF) located in?
HCF is located specifically in the township of Fruitland. Address will be shared after payment is received. If you search for Justus Orchards on Google Map, we are very close by (within a half of a mile).
What if I need to cancel or it’s bad weather?
This farm camp will be held in rain or shine. We will make indoor accommodations in our barns when there is rain. Cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. There will be no make-up classes in the event of a participant’s absence. However, we can reschedule, cancel, and/or refund due to any unsafe weather-related issues. HCF will try their best to contact you in advance if they need to cancel due to unsafe weather.
What should my child wear and bring?
We recommend wearing/bringing appropriate layers incase the weather changes. It is also important to wear close-toed shoes due to uneven ground and to prevent injury if an animal accidentally steps on toes. We also recommend your child brings a backpack with everything they need in it so they can carry it around while in different areas of the farm. Inside the backpack we recommend putting in a water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, rain jacket, snacks and lunch. We will have a cooler to put lunches in if they need to stay cool and fresh water to refill water bottles. On Creek Days, have your child come in their swimsuit if they want to swim, bring a towel, wear water shoes and a change of clothes.
Are there any “Farm Rules” that we should know in advance?
Yes, for the safety and security of our farm and our animals, we must enforce the following rules on the farm:
No smoking, vaping, tobacco products, drugs or CBD.
No outside pets allowed. Leaving them in the car is prohibited in high temperatures.
No spectators allowed without registration.
No outside treats for the animals.
No going to other areas of the farm without permission.
Children cannot be left unattended.
No personal belongings inside the pastures (phones and water bottles are an exception)
No littering.
Everyone is required to sign a Liability Waiver before beginning.
Is your farm a safe place and all-inclusive to all people?
All employees at Hendo Care Farm strive to be all-inclusive and welcomes all guests. Together we celebrate diversity and strive to create a safe space that is more inclusive and less oppressive to all of people’s many identities including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, family structure, ability, and more
How do the scholarships work?
We have a 501c3 nonprofit partner called the Angel K Love Project. The Angel K Love Project’s mission is to keep our program fees as low as possible for youth who cannot afford to pay the full rate, but who could really benefit from the services we provide at our farm camps. Therefore, if the cost is stopping you from registering your child, please don’t hesitate to fill out an application on our nonprofit partner’s website. It takes only 10 minutes. Just click this link to get started —> AngelKLoveProject.org.
Or if you would like to SPONSOR A CHILD or DONATE to Angel K Love Project’s mission 501c3, you can also do so at angelkloveproject.org. All proceeds donated to the Angel K Love Project help support youth in need of financial support to participate in Farm Camps at Hendo Care Farm, and it supports the care of the animals at Hendo Care Farm too!
